TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH / 땅끝까지: Jeesun Choi
Jack NY
October 13th - October 28th 2023

I've had this show on my radar for months now and I'm so excited that it's finally opening this Friday! I love the beauty of a bilingual play -- I think there's something really special about experiencing something through two different languages, even if I don't know the second language (Korean). I'm excited to see how they transform JACK, and to watch two people - of varying relationships - come together again and again to tackle the stories from their lives.

Sex and the Abbey: Diana Ly
LPAC
October 12th - October 13th 2023

I got to see an early reading of this AND it was on a day that I was extraordinarily stressed out. I crankily sat down, tried to unclench and then fell quickly and wonderfully into this story of cool ass nuns putting on a play, amongst other things. I will be there at 2pm on Friday! Check it out and stay tuned!

Jeux + A Child’s Tale: Christopher Williams, Mariah Anton Arters, Christiana Axelsen, Kyle Gerry, Dominica Greene, Paul Singh, Caitlin Scranton, Mac Twining, Carlo Antonio Villanueva
October 12th - October 15th 2023
Jerome Robbins Theater

Two words for Christopher's work: surreal and delightful. Christopher delicately and with, what I imagine to be, painstaking craftsmanship pulls the gossamer threads from classical story ballets through time and weaves them into beautiful, kind of freaky, contemporary (read: gay) dances. And let's just say it: he's funny.

The cast for this work are all absolutely top of the field, stellar, and looking sexy-AF in the Reid & Harriet tennis-inspired costumes. And, if that's not enough, Tei Blow did sound design so even your ears are being delicately cared for throughout this show. I'll be there on the 15th if anyone wants to be my date and get a Cinnabon with me in Penn Station en route to the venue.

The Handsome Family
Public Records
Friday, October 13th 2023

I’m so excited to see dear pals The Handsome Family back in NYC! So smart, so odd, so delightful! Their bent desert Americana is like begrudgingly inviting the new neighbors, who happen to be ghosts of failed vaudeville performers, over for a drink. And surprisingly it ends up being a pretty nice time. But later you discover they stole a bottle of scotch you were saving for New Years, and there’s a human turd in your laundry basket. Like how? They’re ghosts? Come through!

Moi, Moi, Moi: Gina Tonic and more!
Schapiro Hall The Theatre @ Schapiro
Friday, October 13th 2023

If I was not away this weekend, I would be going to this! Gina Tonic is performing in The Madness of Lady Bright, but the whole nights is a collection of 4 gay plays from the 1960s! Gina is a performer to know, love, catch whenever you can! Go have a gay ol weekend!
