Communitas: Almanac Dance Circus Theatre

Acrobatics performances offer a special rush from the build-up and release of tension. And for me, I looove feeling fear and tension as things become a bit ~dangerous~ on stage. It brings the audience together in this unconscious synchronization of hearts and breath.

Producer Mondays: Ray Angry and the Council of Goldfinger

After meeting Ray at The Brick he told me about his weekly show and I was like - That sounds incredible! ... And it is, in fact, incredible. It is also 11pm on a Monday night, so take an afternoon nap and start the week right.

gerstl took the easy way out: Notch Theatre Company

Fan alert! I will see anything Amy Staats is in. After The Last Class: A Jazzercize Play (a play that was also an entire Jazzercize class) and Eddie and Dave (the number one best play about Van Halen), I am a StaatsHead.

The Saga of the Shining Emblem: The Saga of the Shining Emblem

The rumors are true. I love to laugh. Long and loud and clear. Saga of the Shining Emblem tickles my my chaotic/good bird person funny bone. I feel like it is a hot date night for people who are both into RPGs and silliness.

Who Knows

I love what Breaking and Entering does and I'm so looking forward to their rooftop reading series but BEFORE we even get to that there's an amazing reading coming up at ART's South Oxford Space. Emani and Tyshaun are new artists to me but excited by their work!

Staffer: Laia Comas

GALATEA 2.0: Sophie Dushko, C.C. Kellogg

Incel culture, found text, strange-beautiful intimacy: Invulnerable Nothings' new show follows Eliza, a sex worker hired by a man to role play as a "love doll" when his last one mysteriously...broke. I'm somehow thinking of the GIRLS episode "American Bitch"? Color me intrigued.

Staffer: Billy McEntee

“Thomas Deen Baker” sings “Chet Baker Sings”: Thomas Deen Baker, Zelda Zück

Thomas Deen Baker aka Zelda Zück bringing you Drazz, singing the finest jazz standards. I love this bitch's energy and I want more live jazz in my life so I WILL BE THERE.

Outside: Genee Coreno

Surreal landscapes? Inspired by very different sources? A work in development? Puppetry? That's like four of my five boxes checked..... I'll be there.

Things to Come: Jack Meriwether, Sharleen Chidiac, The Friend, Samantha Feliciano, Ruby McCollister

Things to Come, a bi-monthly inter-disciplinary performance series, has been flashing in my periphery for the last few months. That the performers seem to come from far-flung corners of my life—LA film friend, dance folks, comedians from around—piqued my interest. On this week's show I know half the performers which is a perfect ratio of knowing to surprise for a night like this. My guess is it will be delicious bites of show and that the hang after will be electric. And not for nothing: the promo for it is HOT.
