Since September 2023, Ligia Lewis’ “study now steady” has transformed the gallery space at the Center for Art, Research and Alliances into a kind of open rehearsal studio. Lewis and a cohort of a half-dozen choreographer/movers have been performing score studies and works-in-progress, twelve times a week for over four months. The breadth, duration, commitment, and curiosity is astonishing! See it before it closes on Feb 4! And, on Thurs Jan 25, CARA hosts a discussion between Lewis, “study now steady” performers, and some of our brightest contemporary choreographic thinkers/makers. Come through!

Yuki is a thoughtful, focused, brilliant collaborator. If you have attended "downtown theater" or "experimental performances" in NY for the past 20 years, you have more than likely seen Yuki onstage. You have more than likely marveled at her precision, intensity and (sometimes) humor. Well, now you have a chance to behold a project of her own devising. An opportunity to take in a small bite that contains years and years of Yuki's practice and observation. I am honored that she is sharing her piece at The Brick as part of The Exponential Festival.

Ryan Drake's period piece takes us back to high school chat rooms where identity was slippery and hormones simmered. Will Arbery produces this dark new play, and Drake's text illuminates the absolutely inanity of "flirtatious" messages we send off our devices but rarely read aloud. Enter a quartet of gifted actors to bring these texts to life.
