The Bushwick Starr produces this last show before moving into their new home and features "Bible fan-fiction vibes." Sign this lapsed Catholic up! Expect a concert taking the shape of new music theater to offer a fresh take on Moses' tale, all from the singular mind of Micha Rodriguez.

so long so long: Marin Day and Maddie Hopfield
Kestrels
June 5th - June 9th 2024

Do you like dance that is FUN, impressive, and filled with love?! If so, then you want to attend this dance-duo performance. I sadly can't make it, but the memories of their excerpt I saw earlier this year put a big smile on my face.

I got to experience a slice of what these two do back in April and was immediately like - I am down for the full cake (I am not sure about this metaphor...). And now the cake is ready and I am hungry! If you must know, it is dance with humor and melancholy and an intriguing relationship between the two artists at the core. It is text and ideas swaddled in movement. It is fresh but also grounded.

The Snake Charmer's Demise: Naren Weiss, Rajesh Bose
The Tank
May 29th - June 9th 2024

Anything in the canon that investigates the Myth of Return is always something that I am drawn to. Plus, anything that can invigorate the monologue is exciting.

Before the Volcanoes Sing: A Conversation with Clarissa Tossin: Michelle Agnes Magalhaes, Alethia Lozano Birrueta, Jared Katz
Whitney Museum & Online Livestream
Thursday May 30th 2024

Brazil-born artist Clarissa Tossin is doing totally brilliant remarkable future-imagining and past-preserving image, object, and film work. I first fell for her speculative textile work that weaves photographs of ecological catastrophe on Earth with survey images of the Moon and Mars; literally twining our harmful, extractive present with a likely extractive future. For Tossin’s new film, currently showing in the Whitney Biennial, she scanned and 3D-printed ancient Mayan musical instruments. Artifacts too precious to be handled and played, are given new breath, new songs. I’m excited to hear them, and hear Tossin discuss her work! Come through!

Leading Ladies: Genre Reveal: Thee Suburbia and Ella Fartzgerald
Red Eye NYC
Sunday June 2nd 2024

I adore these two performers, their voices, their looks, the command of stage. Listen to them sing songs from Cher, Tina Turner, Carole King, Beyonce, Selena, Gladys Knight, and more...I know it will be a MARVELOUS time.

MIDNIGHT COLESLAW’S TALES FROM BEYOND THE CLOSET!!! Joey Merlo and Nick Browne
The Tank
May 31st - June 23rd 2024

Campy Terror might as well be my middle name.

Sometimes I feel selfish and like a show was made just for me. Sue me. It is a nice thing to feel in this nasty ol world and I am very excited for this gay ass horror show that is mine all mine.

But I will share. You can come, too. I am generous.
