Racecar Racecar Racecar : The Hearth, Kallan Dana, Sarah Blush, Jessica Frey, Julia Greer
ART/NY: The Mezzanine Theatre

December 6th-22nd 2024

In the fallout from the censorship that shuttered the Connolly, I was so happy to see ART/NY step in to host The Hearth’s premiere production of Kallan Dana’s Racecar Racecar Racecar. Directed by Sarah Blush and featuring the very brilliant Jessica Frey and Julia Greer. Weird bent dreamy trippy roadtrip and family dynamics and America. Closes in two weeks, get on it. Come through!

This is the first show of the new year that I am seeing! And the first of The Exponential Festival! It is the first weekend, so I am putting it on your radars now! Do not miss out. I have been lucky to see this project develop over time and even learned what the hell VTubing is! You will be surprised, entertained and challenged. What more could you want?! I cannot wait to be there for opening night!

haircut play :€ : Eulàlia Comas (full credits below! It is a big team!)
Loading Dock
January 3rd-5th 2025

This is the 2nd show I am seeing in the new year! I am so so excited for this wild experiment to unfold before me. There is nobody like Eulàlia Comas, first and foremost. 2nd, I have a big fascination with haircuts, so I feel like I am the right audience. 3rd, the character names make me really happy. 4th, my dear collaborator Devon Wade Granmo is acting in it (he has done the last several Title:Point projects). 5th, Loading Dock is one of the coolest places in Brooklyn.

The Hard Nut : Mark Morris Dance Group
BAM
December 12th-22nd 2024

I love me a queer holiday event, so I'm sharing some this week. If you have fond memories of seeing The Nutcracker with your heteronormative fam growing up but want something gayer that's still giving holiday, this is the show for you. An enduring classic unto itself!

Flakes : Justin Vivian Bond
Joe’s Pub
December 12th-22nd 2024

Newly minted MacArthur Genius JVB has a winter show each year, and their rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is up there with my other queer icons', Meow Meow and Bridget Everett. You can't go wrong at a Bond show, but do be warned: in addition to the two-drink min at Joe's Pub, this show is a pricier one. If you can afford it, it's worth the voyage.

Gestating Baby Vol. 9 with Rawya El Chab and Adin Lenahan: Rawya El Chab, Adin Lenahan, Jesse Freedman, Omar Dewachi, Ettie Pin, Dmitri Barcomi
The Brick Theater
December 18th-21st 2024

Community is a key component of art creation, collaboration and curation in my mind. Gestating Baby was formed as this mindset really started to develop in the early days of the 603 Bushwick iteration of Silent Barn and it is exemplified perfectly with this final group of artists, as Gestating Baby ends, the year ends, and new things begin. Everyone working on these two projects is an artist who has been an incredible part of The Brick community, from lending skills during technical work weeks to presenting work at ?!:New Works to doing live streams to curating gallery shows to presenting fully produced premieres to helping facilitate for protestors. They are artists with deep wells of talent, ideas and dreams. They are humans who bring a lot of life to every space they are in. If I was in NY, I would be there every single night. Go be a part of the stories they are telling and raise a glass to a silly experiment called Gestating Baby.
